Celtics vs. Knicks Stat Pack

*The Celtics have been by far the worse offensive team in the 2013 NBA playoffs.
–Their 84.0 points per 100 possessions in the first two games of the series is more than 13 points worse per 100 possessions than the Washington Wizards’ 30th-ranked efficiency during the regular season.

*Including the playoffs, the Celtics are 3-7 in April.

*The Celtics have outscored the Knicks by a combined 10 points in the first half this series, but a few historically bad quarters doomed the men in green at Madison Square Garden.
–According to Elias, Boston is the first team in the shot-clock era to score 25 or fewer second-half points in consecutive regular season or postseason games.

*The Knicks are the first team to win consecutive games with fewer than 88 points scored in the last 6 postseasons.

*Just as he did during the regular season, Jeff Green has been a stronger player in the first 2 quarters of the game than he has in the final 2.
–He has continued this trend against the Knicks: in 40 second-half minutes played, Green has scored only 8 points on 1-of-11 shooting (0-3 on 3-pointers).
–Green’s combined first halves this series (40 minutes): 28 points on 10-of-15 shooting (3-of-3 on 3-pointers).

*Out of almost 250 teams to go down 2-0 in a best-of-7 series, just 15 have come back to win the series.
–Last year, the Thunder became just the 15th team in NBA history to come back from a 2-0 deficit in a best-of-7 series in the playoffs.
–The Celtics have not done so since the 1969 Finals.

*Jason Terry, who was the only positive plus/minus player for the Celtics in Game 2, is now finding his stroke.
–He made 3 straight 3-pointers for the first time since March 29.
–He has had an odd postseason thus far from 3-point (5 straight misses, then 3 straight makes and then 3 straight misses).

*How about all the charges Paul Pierce has taken thus far?
–The Truth took 6 charges during the 2012-13 regular season.
–Pierce has taken 4 charges thus far this series.

*Recent Meetings: Celtics vs. Knicks
–The Celtics have lost 5 consecutive games to the Knicks (including the regular season and playoffs), which is Boston’s longest losing streak to New York since 1998 (21 straight games).
–The 5-game losing streak is also tied for the Celtics’ 4th-longest losing streak to the Knicks in franchise history.
