Paul Pierce: Legend by the Numbers

There are many ways to encapsulate Paul Pierce’s career with the Boston Celtics, but two words can easily express his forever connection to the franchise: ‘True Celtic.’

Here are numbers behind his 15 fantastic seasons in green:

*24,021 – Pierce’s 24,021 career points with the Celtics are the second-most in franchise history as well as the 10th-most for any player with one team in the NBA all-time.

*886 – He has 886 more career 3-pointers than the Celtic with the second-most in franchise history. There are some fun names on this list:

*6,434 – Pierce’s 6,434 free throws made are the most by any Celtic ever and currently the 10th-highest total for a player in NBA history.

*1,583 – He and Larry Bird are the only players to accumulate at least 1,000 steals in green. The Truth’s 1,583 steals are the most in Celtics history, followed by Bird’s 1,556 and Rajon Rondo’s 913.

*10 – Pierce is also in the top 10 in Celtics history in games played, minutes played, field goals, rebounds, assists, blocks, player efficiency rating and win shares.

*9 – The Captain recorded NINE regular-season triple-doubles for Boston, including a career-best three in 2012-13. The Celtics were a perfect 9-0 in those games.

*.635 – Boston had a .635 winning percentage (115-66 record) in Pierce’s 181 career double-doubles, including the playoffs.

*14 – I remember seeing this nugget on CSNNE – this past season was Pierce’s 14th consecutive season in which he averaged at least 18 points per game. He joined Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Michael Jordan, Karl Malone and Kobe Bryant as the only players who have accomplished that feat.

*56 – Pierce and Kevin Garnett led the Celtics to an NBA-best 56 playoff wins since 2008. The team also had a combined 370 regular-season and playoff team wins, tied for the second-most in the league.

*1 – Paul Pierce was the ONE constant on the Celtics roster since they drafted him in 1998. He brought Celtic Pride back to the city of Boston and will always be in the hearts of all Celtics fans.
